La Casa En El Aire
La Casa En El Aire is a rustic and very spacious vacation house for up to 11 adults and 3-4 Kids. It's located directly on the beach, only a few steps away from the ocean. The villa offers an open kitchen-living area, five bedrooms, a kids-palapa, four bathrooms and several terraces with breathtaking views.
Ground floor

The open yet cozy kitchen and living room are situated on the ground level. As we enjoy cooking, the kitchen is well-equipped. There is a good-sized fridge, a six-burner gas stove and oven, a blender and a coffee machine. The dinning table is big enough to seat a large group of people.
In front of the living room there is a spacious terrace facing the beach. There are two large wooden tables, where you can enjoy your meals outside. We also have quite a few hammocks that you are free to use and hang up wherever you like around the house. At the entrance side there is a covered patio. Here we have a utility room with a little charcoal grill, a scooter, a bike and various other equipment.
Next to the kitchen you´ll find two bedrooms and two bathrooms (with hot water and good water pressure). The first bedroom has a king-sized bed, a lot of storage and closet space, as well as an en suite bathroom. The other room has three individual beds that can be rearranged to a double bed for a couple or family. In the larger bathroom in the front, we have a washing machine and a lockbox that you are welcome to use.
First floor
ATTENTION: adult supervision of small children is needed, especially on the first floor and the roof terrace, as the house is not very childproof!
However we have always used the house with small children.

Upstairs we have another two bathrooms, three bedrooms and another room where our children used to sleep. We call it the "kid's palapa" (it’s a very nice room that could also be used by adults, but it doesn't have proper beds, we just put some mattresses on slatted bases the floor).
On the first pictures you can see the rooms "luna" and "sol", they are identical, both have the same bed-system as downstairs, you can either have two separate beds or push them together to have one big bed.
The upstairs bathrooms have showers, but the water doesn't really get hot and the water pressure isn't great either, so we recommend showering in the showers downstairs ;)
The highlight of the first floor is definitely the master bedroom, it has a full-frontal ocean view and a super romantic hanging bed! We have even spotted dolphins while laying in bed!
Next to the bedrooms there’s another huge terrace which has another big table for 8 people, we love to have our breakfast up here :) The terrace is also perfect for doing yoga, chilling in a hammock or on a sunbed.
Rooftop
On the top of the house we have the biggest terrace, from up here you can see the ocean on one side and the jungle and the lagoon on the other side.
General information
The Wi-Fi in El Cuyo is not always the greatest, but sending e-mails and chatting works fine. Depending on how many tourists are present at the moment, the internet tends to be quicker.
We have no air conditioning in the house, but there are fans in all the rooms and the house is very well ventilated.
There is no TV and no dishwasher.
The house is somewhat rustic. Because of its beautiful location right by the ocean, everything rusts and deteriorates quickly, the more equipment the more difficult the upkeep, so we try to keep it simple ;)
The drive from the nearest airport (Cancun) is aprox. 2 hours long. We recommend renting a car, it's easier to get to El Cuyo that way. You can also travel by bus, but you need to keep in mind, that the public transportation system is not 100% reliable. You should plan enough time and be in the mood for a little adventure ;)
